One arrested, minor detained for murder of woman in Kondhwa

According to the police, the accused confessed that the woman approached them when they were consuming liquor

Police on Wednesday arrested one person and detained a minor in connection with the murder of an unknown woman in Kondhwa on Monday.

Residents of Mayfair Society on NIBM (National Institute of Bank Management) Road in Kondhwa alerted the police after they found the body. (REPRESENTATIVE PIC)

The accused has been identified as Jai Asif Sheikh, 20, of Shivnerinagar in Kondhwa.

According to the police, the accused confessed that the woman approached them when they were consuming liquor under a tree at an open plot near Mayfair Society on NIBM Road in Kondhwa around 9.15 pm on Monday. A quarrel broke out between both parties when the accused declined the demand made by the unknown woman to give her liquor. Later, the accused hit her head with a stone and disfigured her face to conceal the victim’s identity.

Two teams of Kondhwa police and one team of crime branch were formed to crack the case.

Police are yet to verify the identity of the woman.
