Pimpri-Chinchwad police, HIA discuss issues faced by Hinjewadi IT professionals
During the meeting, the police told industrialists to approach the police station in the event of receiving extortion threats
Pimpri-Chinchwad police officials held a meeting with office-bearers of the Hinjewadi Industries Association (HIA) on Tuesday, March 21 to discuss various issues faced by information technology (IT) professionals at Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, Hinjewadi.
Kakasaheb Dole, DCP (zone 2), Pimpri-Chinchwad police, said that the meeting was called to discuss issues related to traffic, infrastructure, mathadi workers and the safety and security of IT professionals working in Hinjewadi. “We have assured that we will resolve all the issues being faced by IT professionals. It has been decided that all departments including the police, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and others will coordinate to resolve the issues,” Dole said.
During the meeting, the police told industrialists to approach the police station in the event of receiving extortion threats. The police assured action even if the complaint is filed anonymously. Industrialists were asked to register complaints on the WhatsApp number/email identity of the police station in-charge. The police said that strict action would be taken against those creating hurdles for industries and that regular meetings would be arranged with industry representatives. The police demanded 25 more traffic wardens from the metro department to better monitor traffic at Hinjewadi.
Whereas Charanjeet Singh Bhogal, chief operating officer (COO), HIA, said, “We have raised issues such as traffic, mathadi workers, CCTV cameras and a police chowky in IT phase 3. The police responded positively.”
Bhogal said that a Rs16 crores’ worth project to install CCTV cameras at Hinjewadi had been pending since a long time. He stressed that CCTV cameras are directly related to the safety and security of IT professionals. Bhogal further said that there is need to set up a police chowky in phase 3 looking at the increasing population. While land had already been identified for the project, there was no progress on ground, he said. He expressed hope that the new police commissioner would help in resolving their problems.
