Six beat history-sheeter to death in Pune
Six persons, including one woman, attacked a history-sheeter with a sickle and beat him to death in Pune Tuesday night
Six persons, including one woman, attacked a history-sheeter with a sickle and beat him to death at Nana peth late night Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Rohan Ravindra Pawar, a criminal with a record who in 2016 had been externed from Pune city and the district limits for a period of two years. As of now, there are four criminal cases registered against Pawar at various police stations in Pune city.
The assailants have been identified as Sushant alias Mantya Kuchekar, Tejas Jawale, Rohit Counter, Atish Phalke, Aditya Kenjale and Usha Kuchekar – all residents of Nana peth. Of the six accused, three including the woman have been arrested while search is underway for the remaining three accused.
According to the police, the incident took place at around 12.30 am Tuesday night when the accused called the victim outside of his house to meet them. After Pawar stepped out of his house, Sushant Kuchekar attacked him with a sickle after which another accused Jawale stabbed him with a knife. The remaining accused beat him up with bricks, stones and wooden sticks. Pawar succumbed to multiple injuries as the accused fled from the spot.
Ramesh Sathe, senior police inspector at Samarth police station said, “Prima facie, the murder is the outcome of an old rivalry. As per the complaint, we have registered a case and arrested three accused while the search for the others is underway.”
According to the police, Sushant Kuchekar is also a history-sheeter and in 2018, was externed from Pune city and the district limits for two years. He is involved in 16 criminal cases. The police also said that another prime accused in this case, Usha Kuchekar, is also involved in at least two crimes.
In another such case in Chakan, a group of 10 to 12 people allegedly attacked two persons near Shiv Sena Bhavan Monday night in which one person was killed while the other was injured. The deceased has been identified as Monya alias Monesh Sanjay Ghogare while his friend, Vishwanath Latukar, suffered injuries. The police have booked Ahubham Maske, Chetan Maske, Chandrakant Kurhade, Rohit Kurhade, Arjun Kurhade, Akash Chaudhari, Kishor Dhiwar, Pranav Jadhav, Sonu Dimbale and four others in this case. As of now, the police have arrested Chetan Maske and Chandrakant Kurhade even as the search is underway for the other accused. The murder is the outcome of an old rivalry, the police said.
