PUNE The Pune police on Tuesday submitted a chargesheet in the Teacher eligibility test (TET) 2019-2020 result manipulation case.

The 3,955-page long chargesheet names 15 people. There is some increase in the charges as well,” said senior police inspector Dagdu Hake of cyber police station.
The chargesheet was submitted by police inspector Kumar Ghadage who also added Sections 201(destruction of evidence) and 120(b) (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code to the original charges.
The case led to arrests of high-level officials including an IAS officer, director of a software company, commissioner of Maharashtra state council of examination (MSCE), and multiple agents.
The allegations against those accused were that the result of the Teacher eligibility test (TET) was changed using two methods - changing marks on the OMR sheets and changing marks in the final merit list in order to include the paying candidate in the merit list. While there was no substantial update regarding changing of marks in the OMR sheets, there were around 7,000 candidates who were found to have had manipulated marks in exchange of money. The investigation and interrogation of those arrested has led to registration of another case of manipulation in TET 2018 marks.
The education department was given a list of such candidates who were found with manipulated marks. Among those in the list were 21 candidates who had passed on merit but ended up paying out of fear when the agents called them with an offer, according to the police. The further examination of Teacher Aptitude and Intelligence Test (TAIT) was pending for the candidates of 2018 as well as 2019. The further examination requires a candidate to have qualification certificate from TET. Some of the corrupt candidates had received this certificate, according to the police.
