PUNE: The Pune police have booked twin brothers for domestic violence and use of black magic against twin sisters married to them. The sisters hold a masters degree from the US while the brothers’ father owns a construction business in Pune. The sisters have alleged that the in-laws and husbands made them drink blackened water, placed a lemon with their names written on it under their beds, and slipped other such objects in their bags while they left the house, in order to get them to produce a son, according to the complaint.

“These are twin brothers, married to twin sisters. One of the sisters was pregnant when the superstitious activity was done,” said Pornima Gaikwad, deputy commissioner of police, Zone 3 of Pune police.

The 24-year-old women have alleged that their husbands secretly recorded their videos and threatened to spread them and install public hoardings if they reported them to the police.

Two separate cases were registered against each of the brothers by their respective wives. The black magic law was invoked against them.

“There are no arrests yet. We have received complaints from the two women and investigating is on,” said Mahendra Jagtap of Kothrud police station who is investigating one of the cases.

Both the women claimed that the men had falsely told them that they each had a degree in civil engineering even though they were diploma holders. As per the allegations, the women were locked inside bathrooms and demands were made for money from them. The men are also suspected to have been married to other people before marrying the complainants, without their knowledge.

Two cases - both under Sections 498(a), 494, 406, 420, 324, 342, 509, 323, 504, 506(2), 500 and 34 of Indian Penal Code along with Sections 3(2) and 3(3) of Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013, and Section 66(e) of Information Technology Act were registered at Kothrud police station.
