Pune police book woman for spreading illicit content

After circulating the content, Bhosale threatened to kill herself and allegedly called the complainant's family members and threatened to name them in her suicide note

The Pimpri-Chinchwad police on Saturday booked a 27-year-old woman for spreading illicit content regarding another woman on a social media platform.

The accused, identified as Archana Vilas Bhosale is a resident of Pimpri-Chinchwad.

“According to the complainant, the accused circulated the victim’s picture claiming she was a prostitute," said Satish Mane, senior police inspector, Wakad police station. "Both the women are well educated. Bhosale was allegedly having an affair with the victim's husband," he added.

After circulating the content, Bhosale threatened to kill herself and allegedly called the complainant's family members and threatened to name them in her suicide note.

A case under Section 67 (punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of Information Technology Act has been registered at Wakad police station against Bhosale. Dnyaneshwar Sable, police sub inspector, Wakad police station, is investigating the case.
