Of course, this depends on a nod from the government, considering the sensitive situation at the border. It is learnt that the BCCI will watch the reception the Faisalabad Wolves get during the upcoming CLT20 and then approach the Centre.

The South Africa tour, which was supposed to be discussed at the BCCI working committee meeting last Sunday, did not come up at all. The reason was that when Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced the tour, it had not consulted the BCCI and none of the Indian officials were present to sign an agreement. This means that if India do not tour South Africa, the BCCI will not have to pay compensation to CSA.

“Compensation has to be paid only when it is part of the FTP,” a senior BCCI official told HT. “But since no one from the BCCI signed any papers, it will not be considered part of the FTP.”

One of the reasons why the BCCI was looking for home series this year is to generate funds, hence West India have been invited.

If Pakistan come and the Board settles the issues of the Pakistan Cricket Board not getting a share of the revenue earned by the BCCI from the bilateral series last year, it could be an action-filled winter at home.
