Consult states before rescheduling IPL dates: Govt to BCCI

The Union Home Ministry today asked the Indian Cricket Board to consult states hosting the Indian Premier League matches while drafting a new schedule for the high-profile Twenty20 tournament. A three-member BCCI delegation, led by its secretary N Srinivasan, met Home Ministry Special Secretary (Internal Security) Raman Srivastava to discuss the issue.

A three-member BCCI delegation, led by its secretary N Srinivasan, met Home Ministry Special Secretary (Internal Security) Raman Srivastava to discuss the issue.

According to a Home Ministry spokesman, Srivastava conveyed the government’s concerns and limitations to the BCCI in view of the tight security position for the Lok Sabha elections.

Srivastava suggested that a new schedule be worked out in consultation with the states hosting the IPL matches.
