CSK vs DC, IPL 2023 Highlights: Chennai brush Delhi away with 27-run win

Short and wide, Warner goes for the cut but ends up hitting in front of square. The slowness of this pitch not helping him at all.

The wicket is slow and the ball is stopping as well. There is dew now. It won't be very easy but I think it's chaseable. Not much dew, but it won't be easy to grip the ball. (On Conway's wicket) His main shots are sweep and reverse-sweep, captain wanted to have deep square leg, I told no and wanted him to hit towards that area. I bowled the first ball full and he missed it. Glad that I got a wicket off the first ball, otherwise I may not have completed my quota of four overs (laughs).

What a final over from Mitchell Marsh. Just seven runs and the wickets of Dhoni and Jadeja. Dhoni was caught at long on, scoring 20 in 9 balls. Considering just how slow the pitch is, this is a score that CSK can work with. Fantastic recover from CSK which was started off by Shivam Dube and then finished off by Jadeja and Dhoni.

Mitchell Marsh bowling the final over, the first over is hit down the ground by Jadeja for a four but he had to really reach for the second one. Mishits it to long on. A great lower order knock from him though, he goes for 21 off 16.

Slow ball just short of a length to end the over from Khaleel, Dhoni lofts it back over the bowler's head. CSK have raced to 160/6 in 19 overs.

Dhoni takes an almighty swing at a wide length ball, gets a thick edge and goes behind to the boundary.

Slower short ball from Khaleel for the third of the over and Dhoni was expecting that. Pulls it over midwicket for six.

Jadeja comes to the pitch to Kuldeep, the spinners looks to cramp him but Jadeja makes enough room to send it over the bowler's head.

Khaleel Ahmed returns with Jadeja on strike on five off five. Rayudu on 23 off 16. CSK are 125/5 in 16 overs, can they get anywhere close to that 150-run mark?

Rayudu on 20 off 13, Jadeja on 2 off 2. It is only 41-year-old Dhoni who is left as a recognised batter after this, although Deepak Chahar is no mug with the bat as well. Today, CSK's much vaunted batting depth is being tested to the core and there will have to be some lusty blows here from Rayudu and Jadeja before their captain walks in.

Short of a length from Marsh, Dube pulls and the fielder is right there for that shot. It is Warner himself standing at deep midwicket and he gobbles up the easy catch.

Good length from Lalit to end the over, Rayudu sends that towering over the bowler's head for the third six of that over. He moves to 18 of 11, Dube will be on strike for the next and he has made 25 in 10. CSK are 111/4 in 14 overs

Lalit goes too full again, Dube winds up and smashes that ball into orbit and beyond the boundary. CSK go past 100 and this seems to be a good rebuild job now.

Lalit Yadav comes in for his third over, overpitches the first ball and Dube lofts him straight over his head. Dube is playing quite a hand here.

Shivam Dube on 12 off 7, Ambati Rayudu on 8 off as many. These two will have to stay in the middle for as long as possible so CSK can get to a competitive total here. If the pitch is slow for them, it is bound to be slow for DC.

One of the catches of the season right there. Rahane hits it back down the ground, Lalit dives to his right and takes the catch low. That was so good even the umpire behind him was left with his mouth open.

Axar bowling out here and the second one is in the hitting zone for Dube. Lofts it clean over wide long-on for the first boundary for CSK in 29 balls.

Lowest score for CSK at this point of any match this season. Also the first time they have not managed a single season in the first 10 overs of any match this season. They have Rahane in the middle on 18 off 16 and new man Shivam Dube is on one off one.

The slowness of the pitch and the pressure claims another victim. Moeen comes down the wicket to Kuldeep, the spinner goes slow and wide and the turn leads to the batter getting an edge to backward point.

The innings seems to have come to a screeching halt here. Axar Patel has bowled three overs for 16 runs and two wickets and it seems like there will be more in the next two overs considering just how slow this wicket seems to have got.

This time it is Ruturaj Gaikwad. First ball after powerplay and Gaikwad tries to hit Axar over extra cover, ends up holing out at long-off.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is on 24 off 17 balls, Rahane on 10 off 6. Things are pretty much even at the end of the powerplay, it has edged towards being that way thanks to the wicket of Devon Conway.

Conway goes for the sweep early, misses it and he is given out. He seems to have got the whole situation wrong with that premeditated sweep. Had a little chat with Gaikwad before deciding against reviewing it. Axar gets DC the breakthrough with his very first ball.
