Chris Gayle continued his fine form this season and scored his fourth half-century. Also this is his second highest score against DC in the IPL. Gayle targeted the two leg spinners as 44 out of his 69 runs in the innings were scored against the tweakers.
Gayle did not get any support from the other end as KL Rahul departed for 12 runs. Since Rahul’s fastest fifty in the IPL came against DC in their opening match last season, he has managed to score just 50 runs in his last three innings against them.
DC spinners collectively took five wickets, with Sandeep Lamichhane taking the most wickets by any hosts’ bowler with 3. Kagiso Rabada was the only seamer to provide breakthroughs for his team.

Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer went on to score 92 runs for the second wicket, which is the fifth highest partnership for the second wicket this season. Also, this is the duo’s second highest partnership this season.
Dhawan scored his 35th IPL fifty, which was his fifth against KXIP and his third of the season. Iyer also scored his 12th IPL fifty, third against KXIP and second this season as he scored an unbeaten 51 off 46 balls.
