Ex-Ranji player commits suicide

A 32-year-old ex-Ranji player committed suicide by hanging from ceiling at his residence in Gwalior day before yesterday night. He was depressed for quite some time. The deceased Yogendra Singh Kansana represented Tripura in Ranji Trophy matches and he also played for a local cricket club at Gwalior. Currently, he was also engaged in umpiring in the local tournaments.

The deceased Yogendra Singh Kansana represented Tripura in Ranji Trophy matches and he also played for a local cricket club at Gwalior. Currently, he was also engaged in umpiring in the local tournaments.

Superintendent of police, Gwalior Santosh Singh said, "Yogendra Singh was found hanging by his brother Brijendra Singh Thursday morning when he opened the room of Yogendra. Brijendra Singh, who was not in the city for the last two days, came back Thursday morning only.”

Senior cricketer of Gwalior and his friend Vijay Singh said, “Though the exact reason behind the suicide is yet to be known, but it could be depression and stress in career.”

“He was a very good wicket-keeper and batsman but he didn’t get more chance to showcase their talent.” He added.
