The International Cricket Council has sought an explanation from the Indian cricket board over the dangerous pitch that led to the abandonment of the fifth and final limited-overs international between India and Sri Lanka.
ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat on Monday said the Board of Control for Cricket in India has been given 14 days to reply to match referee Alan Hurst's report.
Sunday's match between India and Sri Lanka was called off after protests from the touring team's captain Kumar Sangakkara. The match was played at New Delhi's Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium where four matches of the 2011 World Cup are scheduled to be held.
