India vs South Africa Highlights 1st ODI: Sanju Samson entertains with 63-ball 86, SA beat IND by 9 runs

Kuldeep Yadav bowled brilliantly, conceding 39 runs with one wicket in the 8 overs. Shardul Thakur, too, made a good impact. The bowling all-rounder conceded 35 runs in his 8 overs and picked two wickets.

Henirich Klaasen ends unbeaten on 74 off 65, David Miller is not out on 75 off 63. India's batting lineup will certainly be tested here if the conditions remain conducive for the fast bowlers, the South Africans have some very tricky customers in their lineup indeed. The partnership between Miller and Klaasen ends on 139 off 106 balls. 

This is almost like the viral wonder shot that Kyle Mayers managed against Australia the other day. Short and slightly wide but not too much, Miller punches it over cover for a maximum. He was cramped for room there and still deposits it over the boundary. 

Into the last over then, South Africa's overall run rate is 6.15, they have struck at a rate of 10.6 in the last five overs. Mohammed Siraj has the ball in his hands.  

Klaasen gets into shape earlyn and sends it over short third man. Klaasen moves to 73 off 62 now. 

Partneship now 122 off 95. Poor Avesh should have got at least one wicket in that over. Instead the batters have taken 16 runs in it. 

… and a ball boy shows the Indian superstars how to catch the ball! Short on middle and Miller whips out the pull, it soars over the deep square leg boundary where the ball boy looks as safe as a house catching it. That is shown on the big screen a few times and he smiles sheepishly. 

Well Avesh is not happy. The second ball is another catching chance and Bishnoi was not able to get there at all. Then Miller hit one along the ground straight to Ishan Kishan at point but the ball bursts past him for four. 

Klaasen takes a swing off Avesh and sends it soaring into the darkening Lucknow sky. Siraj is underneath it but he is not settled underneath it. He is moving and budging and makes contact with the ball four times before putting it down. 

Short delivery from Siraj, Klaasen rocks back onto his backfoot and sends it over point for a boundary. He is swinging at all of them now and finally gets one to the boundary at all. The partnership between these two has gone past 100 now. 

A direct hit and a query for a runout delays his celebration. This partnership has now reached 97 in 82 balls and is a very important one for South Africa. Might as well turn out to be the difference between victory and defeat. 

This is a different kind of half century from Miller. It has been patient and he has respected the conditions, showing that he is every inch the senior statesman that he is seen as in this South African limited overs setup

Right then, time for South Africa to maximise every ball. Miller is on 43 off 43 and Klaasen is on 47 off 49. They are both in, and they are proven six-hitters. This will be interesting. South Africa 187/4 in 34 overs. 

Kuldeep floats one nicely outside off and Klaasen smacks him over covers. Samson admonishes Kuldeep for bowling that from behind the stumps. 

Miller goes aerial again but this time does not get the distance. It is landing in the empty extra cover region, althougn Shikhar Dhawan gave it good chase. It may have been better for Avesh Khan to attempt it long on but the pacer did not call for it. 

15 overs to go now. India have done well so far but they will know that they need to get one of these two out very quickly. David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen are both extremely dangrous batters once they get their eye and the former has been in sensational form of late. 

Oh that was just wonderful timing. Bishnoi gives him some room to work with, Miller goes down on one knee and sends the ball soaring back over the bowler's head. 

Ravi Bishnoi's first ever ODI wicket and what a wicket it is! De Kock tries a reverse sweep. The delivery was flatter than the last one and the batter misses it. Big appeal and the umpire raises his finger. De Kock took DRS but it was more out of hope than anything else. As soon as they show that there was no edge, he starts walking without waiting for the ball tracker.

South Africa's three-figure mark came up with a wide and then Klaasen ends the over by getting a glove on a bouncer that took off way too quickly for Samson. It goes behind for a four. 

Siraj angles that one away from De Kock. The South Africa moves outside off and scoops it to the fine leg boundary. 

Heinrich Klaasen clips just left of mid-on and that runs away to the boundary. Nicely played there and South Africa are 85/3 in 18.5 overs. The next ball is a dot ball and so that is the score after 19 overs. 

Markram gone for a duck! That is a sensational delivery. Sharply turning leg spinner, Markram loses it completely and the ball goes through him to take the stumps.

Cross seam at a good length just outside off stump. It shapes in to sneak between Bavuma's bat and pad and crashes onto the stumps.

Inside edge from De Kock and it misses the stumps to behind the batter for a boundary. Similar thing had happened for Bavuma in the previous over, although it didn't really go to the boundary at the time. 

Captain Temba Bavuma has joined his former skipper Quinton de Kock in the middle.
