Close!!! Ashwin almost got Thirimanne. That's his reward for bowling dot balls consistently. The batter tries to slog sleep to get a much-needed boundary. But the ball spins wide and gets some bounce as well. Another maiden over by India!

It was Rishabh Pant who provided the Mohali fans with some fireworks yesterday. Ravindra Jadeja was the star on the second day as he proved his batting prowess. He took down a listless bowling attack to help India notch up an intimidating 574/8 first innings total on the scoreboard. Jadeja played the second fiddle when Pant was smacking boundaries for fun. But he took charge today and held the Indian innings.

Skipper Rohit signals the declaration. India end with 574 for eight with Jadeja (175 not out) and Rishabh Pant (96) being the top performers with the willow.

This is just getting more tough for Sri Lanka. 100-run stand between Jadeja and Shami. Shami was hurt with a throw on the back. The physio came up quickly along with Kuldeep, with another message.
