India vs West Indies 5th T20 Highlights: Spinners script India's sensational 88-run win in Florida

In search for yet another big shot, Hooda goes after Walsh, but ends up finding the fielder in cow corner as he departs after scoring 38 off 25 balls. Sanju Samson walks in next.

It's not India vs West Indies in Florida, it's a competition between Hooda and Iyer for who hits the most and best boundaries. Hooda started the over against McCoy with a four and a six before Iyer joined in with a boundary in the fourth ball.

Rocks back, cuts it over point for a boundary and Iyer brings up his fifty in just 30 balls - 6 boundaries and 2 sixes.

Short ball from Odean Smith and Iyer rocks back, makes room and slices it through point for a boundary. He then muscles the fuller and wider ball high over extra cover for a six.

West Indies finally bring in a spinner. Hayden Walsh Jr. into the attack. Iyer cuts the first delivery, a wider one, through deep backward point for a boundary.

Stand and punch! Fuller delivery from Paul on the middle. Hooda launches it over the bowler's head for a boundary. And that was a No Ball as well. Hooda only manages a single off the Free Hit opportunity. In the fourth ball, Paul goes shot and Hooda ramps it over the keeper for a boundary. 14 runs came off the over

Ishan Kishan cramped for room. And he miscues that pull shot. Captain Pooran takes it comfortably at mid-on. Drakes provides WI with the first breakthrough. Ishan goes back for 11 off 13.

Free hit and Iyer maximises. Placed well wide of the off stump and Iyer reached out to slice it over third man for a boundary. 10 runs came off the over from Keemo Paul.

Back-to-back fours from Iyer against Drakes. One dragged across and pushed through mid-on and the other against a back of the length ball.

This is the first time Ishan has been given an opportunity to feature in the series. Third ball from Obed McCoy and Ishan opened the face of the bat to drift the delivery past the fielder at short third man for a boundary.

Fuller delivery, towards off side and Iyer launches it over the bowler's head. One bounce and it hits the ropes. OHHHH…THAT WAS A HORRIBLE MIX-UP. And Iyer survives. Fends the length ball towards the fielder at point and immediately takes off. Half way down and Ishan denies the single. Iyer had given up to be honest but the survived after the fielder missed the target.

“We wanted to bat first but that's fine. We have four changes. Brooks, Walsh, Odean Smith and Keemo Paul have come in. We have to prepare for the WC. This is a fresh group and India is a great team as well. The venue was small at St. Kitts and hence Walsh wasn't included. But we know when we do need a spin option, we have them.”

“”All have been rested," clarified stand-in skipper Hardik.

“We want to bat. We saw how the wicket slowed down yesterday. We want to bat on a fresher wicket. We are like we are not playing at Miami. 99 percent of the fans are supporting India. No matter what happens, we have set some standards for the Indian cricket team. We need to go out there and showcase our skill set. Obviously, the coach, the captain and senior members have done some tremendous job. 4 changes to the team.”

Ohh…India will be led by Hardik Pandya today. And he wins the toss and opts to bat first against West Indies

Ishan Kishan and Kuldeep Yadav are the only players to not have featured in a single game so far. So India might want to give them a go while West Indies might go unchanged, once again. 

“I think it was pleasing how we played the game. The conditions were not easy but we got to a good score. A lot of thought went in on how we batted and it was pleasing to see. The pitch was quite slow which our bowlers used to their advantage. I thought 190 was a good score, but with the kind of batting that WI have, no score is good. We played good cricket to get the win today. The batters were really smart and the bowlers bowled in pairs to get wickets. It put the brakes on their scoring.”

The Men in Blue's 59-run victory on Saturday was their third win in Florida in five appearances, all against West Indies. India had defeated them in both the matches in 2019 and hope to emulate the same in 2022. 

Despite playing the most of the T20Is in Florida, they have managed to win only three of their nine matches at the venue

Team batting first has won 10 of the 12 completed T20I matches in Florida.

West Indies won the toss and opted to bowl first. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav then got India off to a terrific start, scoring at over 11 an over in the powerplay. Rishabh Pant and Deepak Hooda then added freely to the scoreboard before Sanju Samson and Axar Patel added the perfect finishing touches to help India end with 191/5. 

In reply, West Indies failed to get off to a good start as Avesh Khan handed India two early breakthroughs before Axar Patel's twin strikes saw the opponent being reduced to 5 wickets. Ravi Bishnoi then struck twice while Arshdeep Singh picked three as India folded West Indies for just 132 runs in 19.1 overs.
