Riding on the brilliance of Shimton Hetmyer and Gurkeerat Singh Mann, RCB beat SRH to end their season on a high in front of a packed house at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Following the win, the official handle of RCB thanked the fans for their support despite the team finishing in the bottom half of the table.

RCB’s Twitter post read: “Chinnaswamy & Bengaluru: THANK YOU. You Challengers give us goosebumps. Neev illa andhre, naavu yenu alla. Without you guys, we’re nothing.”

To this post, Gibbs replied: “If you guys need a coach, I am available.”. This tweet was later deleted by the former South Africa opener.

One social media user tried to poke fun at Gibbs after his offer but he took the banter in good spirits.  The user wrote: “They don’t need one more south African surely.”

To this, Gibbs replied: “Well they’ve tried every other one haven’t they.”

RCB might be looking for a change in leadership as Gary Kirtsen hasn’t lived up to his billing. Under Kirsten’s stewardship, RCB have failed to make it to the play-offs for the second year in a row.

While the RCB management have not spoken about Kirsten’s future but it will not be short of surprise if he manages to hold on to the coach’s post next season.

“I have been a fan of continuity. You want to build core of players and culture and keep coming back to same players. I think most successful franchises in IPL have done that and we are searching for that in RCB. There might be structural change next year,” Kirtsten told reporters on the eve of RCB’s match against SRH.
