Workload management has been a big talking point this IPL season as the different teams are keeping a close eye on their players with the World Cup being the prime focus. Former Indian captain MS Dhoni, who has been prolific this season, has faced troubles with his back in the recent past and was even forced to miss a match owing to this injury. After the win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, the seasoned campaigner revealed that for now, the back is holding up perfectly, but with the World Cup coming up, he has to monitor it carefully.
“The back is holding up, it’s not getting worse, with the World Cup coming up, can’t afford that, because that’s too important,” Dhoni said at the post-match press-conference.
How the different players and franchises cope with workload issues has been discussed a lot right before the season started and captain Virat Kohli hoped that the players would be honest with the way they assessed the body. He even said that he could sit out of a couple of matches for RCB to remian fresh and fit for the World Cup.
