"Mohit Sharma has aggravated his bilateral shin pain, and has therefore been ruled out of the ongoing India vs West Indies ODI series," said a BCCI statement on Friday.
"The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Ishant Sharma as his replacement in the Indian squad."
Ishant Sharma last played an ODI in January against New Zealand and is making a comeback after missing matches against Bangladesh, the Asia Cup and the ODI series in England.
India trail the West Indies 0-1 in the series after suffering a humiliating 124-run loss in the first ODI in Kochi. Mohit Sharma failed to get any wickets in that match, giving away 61 runs off his nine overs.
The second ODI will be played at the Feroze Shah Kotla in Delhi on Saturday.
