Come Sunday and the consortium that controversially won the bid for the IPL's Kochi franchisee will be history. With the deadline for the termination notice served to all the stakeholders expiring on Saturday, the investors did not even wait for the last day and submitted the withdrawal letter to the BCCI president Shashank Manohar on Wednesday. It will be interesting to see whether BCCI allows either of the warring factions to be involved in the bidding process for the new team, which will be initiated during Sunday's IPL governing council meeting.

A top BCCI official said that while the promoters —Rendezvous Sports World (RSW) — will not be allowed, the investors — a set of four entrepreneurs — will be allowed. "The investors haven't really done anything wrong on their part. "It's the promoters who bought the team but failed to get it on track,” he said.
