The coach review committee of the Cricket Board, comprising the same members who selected South Africa's Graham Ford as Greg Chappell's successor as coach of the Indian team, is to monitor the performance of the new coach after every tour.

"The new coach's performance will be reviwed by the committee after every tour," said BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah here today.

The committee is headed by BCCI president Sharad Pawar and also consists of three former captains - Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri and S Venkataraghavan.

Defending the BCCI's decision to offer only one year's contract to Ford, who has gone back to England to talk to his current employers and county team Kent where he's a director of coaching, Shah said that this was standard practice.

"We give a one-year contract to a newcomer and review the performance at the end of the period," he said.

Shah informed that Ford was expected to tell the board about his availability to join the team as coach by today.

"He has an existing contract with Kent and will come back with his answers to us later today," he said.
