Australia defeated Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the second one-day international on Sunday to gain a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

Ricky Ponting top-scored with an impressive 90 not out and skipper Michael Clarke made an unbeaten 58 as Australia surpassed Sri Lanka’s total of 208 with more than 11 overs to spare.

Earlier, Doug Bollinger led Australia’s disciplined attack with three wickets to restrict Sri Lanka. The left-arm paceman finished with 3-35 off 10 overs. He was backed by Mitchell Johnson and Brett Lee, who bagged two wickets apiece.
