The Indian cricketers have been using a new secret weapon to prepare themselves for the World T20 - the Power Plate pro 5 High Performance machine.
A favourite with sports teams all over the world, this machine works the muscles faster than they would normally. The muscles are contracted 30-50 times per second, helping the cricketers prepare for the game by increasing movement, stability and core strength.
A favourite with teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal and the German national football team, the pro 5 has been using helping the Indian cricketers both prepare and cool down after a game. The team gave the machine a go and are believed to be raving about it. In fact, the team was so happy with the results that they asked for a machine to be delivered to the dressing room at Lord's.
The team started using the machine after reaching England and are very happy with the results.
“Using the machine helps them prepare for the games by improving their flexibility, power and strength and especially core stability. This is essential for their performance,” said Lars Harms, the education and training manager for Power Plate, UK. “Using the machine also helps to improve imbalance of the muscles in the body as a lot of activity on the field is one sided.”
The players are also using the machine during rehab after an injury as well as after the game for recovery and regeneration of muscles. Perhaps, this explains Zaheer Khan's quicker than expected recovery from the long injury lay-off.
