Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja top county side Worcestershire’s wishlist

The Indian spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are being touted as the two names that English county side Worcestershire are interested in signing them ahead of the first-class season.
According to reports in ESPNcricinfo, “R Ashwin is one of those who have been identified as an ideal candidate by Worcestershire with a view to playing the last few weeks of the English season. The club’s director of cricket, Steve Rhodes, confirmed that Ravindra Jadeja is also of interest. Other first-class counties are understood to be exploring their options, too.”
India are currently playing Sri Lanka in a three-match Test series which will be followed by 5 ODIs and one T20I. However, the matches will be over on September 6 and as a result. The two all-rounders could be available for the last three rounds of the county Championship season.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have both produced brilliant performances for their national side in the last couple of months and they are currently the top two ranked Test bowlers in the world.
In the past, the BCCI have been quite reluctant in issuing a No Objection Certificate for national team players to play in the county season because of their cramped international calendar.
In the last few seasons, Cheteshwar Pujara has represented Derbyshire, Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire. The right-hand batsman was quite effective for the Notts last season and according to the ESPN CricInfo report, Nottinghamshire are willing to have him back for their last few matches of the season.
Former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan was also a part of Worcestershire and the addition of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will surely add a lot of star power to the county season.
