The national selection committee is set to announce the squad for the T20 World Cup in England ahead of the ICC’s May 5 deadline.

Yashpal Sharma, the North Zone selector, is an IPL match referee while his colleagues are back in India.

Four members of the team that won the first T20 World Cup - Sreesanth, Joginder Sharma, Ajit Agarkar and Piyush Chawla - are not part of the 30 probables earlier named.

The IPL provided the perfect platform for aspirants to stake their claim. RP Singh grabbed the chance with both hands (12 wkts at 11.33, economy rate 6.27). Others who come into the reckoning include allrounders Abhishek Nayar, Ravindra Jadeja and Irfan Pathan.
