Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi was penalised for over speeding by the Motorway Police in Pakistan. As per several media reports, the ex-cricketer was fined a amount of 1,500 (Pakistan currency) for the violation, which took place while he was travelling from Lahore to Karachi. The cricketer paid the fine and lauded the police for not letting him off because of his celebrity status.

"The law is equal for everyone," he was quoted as saying in the report. Afridi also posed for pictures with the police personnel, following the incident.

Afridi later hailed the polite behaviour of the police. He also suggested that the limit should be increased over 120 kmph.

The 42-year-old all-rounder was a celebrated cricketer during his time and was considered as one of the most destructive batter. He has represented Pakistan in 398 ODIs, 99 T20Is, and 27 Tests in a career spanning for over two decades.

Afridi has 8064 ODI runs under his belt, with six centuries. In fact he also holds the record of smashing the third-quickest century in ODIs. The all-rounder had reached the triple digits in just 37 balls against Sri Lanka in 1996.

He has done almost something similar on many other occasions. In the 2005 ODI series against India, Afridi took just 45 deliveries to slam a ton.

With the ball, Afridi has notched five-wicket hauls on nine occasions in the 50-over format, with his best bowling figures reading 7/12. He has a total of 395 wickets in ODIs.
