“I am disgusted and horrified that a news reporter can scoop (stoop) down to such a level. In my career, I have not seen such a disgusting piece of news,” he tweeted. Dismissing the report as fabricated, the left-hander attributed his lack of performance to his injury. “I always try to give my best, no matter what the circumstances are. Right now I am struggling with my form. It happens to every player. To come out of injury is not easy and I have had three in a row and I hope to bounce back soon,” he wrote in response to the allegation that he may be under performing.

The KXIP, too, threw their weight behind him. “There is no truth to the speculative reportage. By reporting such stories we are distracting the players. Hence we request the media not to resort to such speculative reporting,” said Kings XI co owner Preity Zinta.

Kings XI skipper Kumar Sangakkara has also come out in support of the batsman. “Yuvi’s preparations have been hampered by injuries. The format and schedule is such that you don’t have enough time to work on your form and fitness as one game is followed by another,” he said.
