VCA pays for following Lodha Panel guidelines as BCCI withholds disbursement
The VCA on September 30 became the first BCCI-affiliated unit to unanimously adopt the new Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations as per the Lodha panel’s suggestions.
On one side while the BCCI is waging its own battle with the Supreme Court over complete implementation of recommendations suggested by the Lodha Committee, on the other, its rift with the ICC’s independent chairman Shashank Manohar, is only getting wider.

The BCCI may have disbursed close to Rs. 500 crores to all state associations in two days after taking a decision in the emergent working committee on September 29. The decision ran into a controversy now with the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha Committee objecting to it. However, Hindustan Times has learnt that the Indian cricket board has withheld the disbursement of Vidarbha Cricket Association’s share. VCA is the home turf of Manohar.
The VCA on September 30 became the first BCCI-affiliated unit to unanimously adopt the new Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations as per the Lodha panel’s suggestions. Tripura Cricket Association also followed suit and adopted the new constitution.
“We haven’t received any disbursement from the BCCI as yet. We are aware that all other state associations have received their share. We don’t know the reason why the BCCI has decided to not release only our funds. Even Tripura has received their funds,” a top VCA official told HT from Nagpur on Thursday.
BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke could not be reached for a comment.
The BCCI’s decision to not release VCA’s funding may further widen their differences with ex-president Shashank Manohar. BCCI president Anurag Thakur recently waged an all-out war of words against Manohar by accusing him of working against the BCCI’s interest and trying to sideline the Indian board at the International Cricket Council.
