Indian captain Virat Kohli was the best batsman in the first Test at Edgbaston. In difficult conditions against the moving ball, he scored 200 runs in the match and almost dragged his side across the finishing line. However, an inspired burst from Ben Stokes on the fourth morning handed the visitors defeat by a margin of 31 runs.

While Kohli has been vocal and boisterous not only about his own game but also about his team, it has added spice to the contest, according to Joe Root.

The Indian contingent led by the fan group Bharat Army also compiled a song as a tribute to Kohli after his day 2 heroics. However, even as his side slipped and stuttered away, the England fan group has come up with their own version and this one is targetting the Indian skipper.

Mocking the skipper, the England fans were seen chanting, “where’s your Virat Kohli gone, we have James Anderson...”

Post his maiden century on England soil, the Bharat Army broke out in cohesion as they sang, “We’ve got Kohli, Virat Kohli, I just don’t think you understand, he’s MS Dhoni’s man, he smashes Pakistan, we’ve got Virat Kohli!”

However, the skipper could not quite lead his side to a victory and was vividly upset at the post-match press conference when he conceded that the batting needs to be more responsible.

“There’s a lot to learn from the lower order. In first innings, Ishant and Umesh stuck in there. Again, Ishant showed character here, Umesh stuck it out with Hardik so those kinds of things make you feel like as top order batsmen we need to apply ourselves better,” he said after his side was handed a 31-run defeat.
