Pakistan's Usama Mir made a memorable debut by dismissing New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson with a brilliant delivery in the 1st ODI of the three-match series at Karachi on Monday.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was simply bamboozled by debutant Usama Mir during the One Day International (ODI) series opener between the Black Caps and Babar Azam-led Pakistan in Karachi on Monday. After ending the two-match Test series in a stalemate, Babar-led Pakistan squared off against Williamson's New Zealand in the 1st ODI of the three-match opera at the National Stadium.

Before Babar won the toss in the series opener and Pakistan opted to bowl, the Green Army confirmed the debut of spinner Usama in the 1st ODI. Making his debut in the curtain-raiser against New Zealand, leg-spinner Mir received his ODI cap from Pakistan head coach and spin-bowling icon Saqlain Mushtaq at the Karachi National Stadium. Mir ended up making an immediate impact as the leg-spinner got the better of the New Zealand captain in the 14th over of the innings.

Mir bowled a peach of a delivery to clean up Williamson, who was in total disbelief following his stunning dismissal. Mir's leg-break managed to beat Williamson's bat and ended up hitting the bails as the batting icon took the long way back to the pavilion. Williamson's noteworthy reaction after his dismissal has also garnered the attention of netizens on social media. A video of Mir's maiden ODI wicket was also shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on social media. "A brilliant start to Usama Mir's ODI career! Kane Williamson is Usama's maiden ODI wicket," the Real PCB captioned its post on Instagram.

Talking about the 1st ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand, Kiwi opener Devon Conway had a forgetful outing with the willow as the star batter was handed a golden duck by pacer Naseem Shah. While skipper Williamson was dismissed for 26 off 39 balls, opener Finn Allen failed to bank on his start as the explosive batter was removed for 29 off 27 balls by Mohammad Wasim Jr. Daryl Mitchell and wicketkeeper Tom Latham stitched a 50-plus run stand after Williamson's departure in the series opener at Karachi.
