Situ Singh Buehler who has been teaching music for over 20 years, has sung in 11 languages and specialised in many genres of vocal music such as Oratorio, Lieder. She says the conception of The Lyric Ensemble of Delhi (LED) was as an opportunity, to introduce relatively new forms of music to the audience in the country and also to provide a performance platform to her students. “The idea is to entertain Delhi with more diverse forms of music, but to make it relatable and remove any elitism that comes attached with it. Moreover, all the singers go through my hands so there is a high standard of quality; they’re all classically trained,” says Situ.

Musical director, Clayton Duggan speaking on the performance, says, “The singers rose to the challenge splendidly by singing and acting with great expression and sincerity. It was a pleasure to work with them on this production.”

Art Director Diniz Sanchez kept the grandeur of the production intact with elaborate costumers and synchronised dance moves. “The response was marvellous. It only goes on to prove that there is scope for genres other than Bollywood in India. The interest and appreciation has been overwhelming . For a group that started in Situ’s living room, LED has come a long way. The audience can expect great things from LED going forward,” he said.
