NEW DELHI: A four-year-old girl, studying in a pre-nursery school in west Delhi’s Vikaspuri, was allegedly molested by a member of the school staff on Friday, police said. The girl told her mother about the incident. The police said that the mother called up her husband, who is a driver.

The parents took the girl to a private hospital, where her medical examination confirmed sexual abuse. Later, the parents filed an FIR at Vikaspuri police station against unknown person. The police said that since the girl could not identify the accused, they questioned all the male staff members of the school.

“The medical examination has confirmed sexually assault. A case of molestation under IPC section 354 and POCSO Act has been registered. We are probing the matter ,” said an official.

“As the school remains closed on weekends, only some staff members were questioned. The remaining will be quizzed on Monday ,” said a senior police officer.

Police said that they are checking CCTV camera footage for clues. “The girl is young and failed to identify the accused. So we are checking the footage to investigate better,” the officer said.

Police said that the girl told her parents that she was taken to a bathroom by ‘one uncle’. She remembers he had a moustache.

“We are working on the clues. Our teams are speaking to the teachers, peons, her classmates and friends to find out the places that the girl visited that day and whom did she talk to within the school premises,” the officer said.

On Sunday morning, the girl’s parents, along with some local residents, led a march to the school demanding immediate arrest of the accused. They went back after senior police officers assured them that detailed investigation will be done and the accused will be arrested soon.
