2 SC employees who took Rs 25,000 bribe sent to police custody

Two Supreme Court employees arrested by the CBI for taking a bribe of Rs 25,000 from an NRI for listing his plea for an early hearing were today sent to police custody by a Delhi court.

C Perumal and K S Badrinath, employees of Supreme Court registry, and another accused, K M Singh, were arrested last night by CBI sleuths under Section 120 for seeking illegal gratification were produced before Special Judge S P Gurg who sent them to police custody till Feb 11.

According to the probe agency the accused had demanded Rs 75,000 from NRI Kunal Saha for listing his appeal against High Court's order for early hearing in the apex court.

Perumal is an Upper Division Clerk in the registry and Badrinath works as an assistant-grade employee in the apex court registry.

Saha came to India in January and went on indefinite hunger strike on February 6 at Jantar Mantar seeking early hearing of his plea.
