After three years of procedural wrangling between the Delhi government and the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), decks have been cleared for their appointment.

The UPSC, which conducts the selection, told the court that it would complete the process for filling the 58 posts of principals under the Direct Recruitment Quota and 145 posts under the Recruitment by Promotion Quota by the year-end.

In an affidavit filed in the court, the commission blamed the Delhi government for inordinate delay in recruitment of principals, vice-principals and over 5,500 teachers, saying it didn’t send all the requisite information to the commission.

The UPSC said the process for selection of 58 principals under the Direct Recruitment Quota for 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 was on after the government sent the final proposal on February 5.

As regards the posts of 145 principals under the Recruitment by Promotion Quota, the commission said the Delhi government had sent a proposal on October 2009 that had many deficiencies. But now the proposal was being examined on a priority basis after the government replied to the UPSC’s queries on February 18.
