Santoshi, 28, was sleeping when she was attacked by her husband Pradeep. The incident occurred in west Delhi’s Ranhola on Sunday night, a senior police official said.

Pradeep fled from the spot after attacking his wife and other family members informed the police. “When we reached, Santoshi was lying in a pool of blood. We rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead,” said a senior police officer.

The couple, who hails from Jalau district in Uttar Pradesh, used to quarrel regularly over petty issues. They had come to Delhi in search of job three days ago and were staying at the house of Santoshi’s sister, police said.

On Sunday, Pradeep had an argument with his wife over not serving dinner on time. Their argument continued for long, the official said, adding that the victim later went to sleep after her sister intervened. A case has been registered and investigations are on, police added.
