Police said the bodies appear to be of persons aged between 20 and 25 years.

Some villagers first saw smoke coming from the direction of the bodies early morning. They were shocked with what they found, after which they informed the police immediately.

"A police forensic team along with a dog squad reached the spot. They recovered a plastic sheet that was used to carry the bodies," said Hamid Akhtar, DCP, south Gurgaon.

"This means the crime may have been committed elsewhere and the bodies dumped here," he added.

Police could not ascertain who the victims are. Even the villagers have no clue. According to police, the bodies bore several injuries, indicating that they may have been beaten first and then killed. The incident has caused panic in the area.

"It is definitely a case of murder without any doubt. The killer must have burned the bodies to avoid recognition," said Akthar.

"We have also informed the Noida police about the discovery of the bodies as they have a missing report of three persons of the same age. A team of Noida police came to identify the victims but they could not," said Akhtar. The bodies have been sent to a mortuary and a case against unknown persons have been filed under Section 302
of IPC.

People living in nearby villages are also trying to find out whether the victims were from their area. “Villagers have stepped up vigil. Some farmers living near the field from where the bodies were recovered told us they will have to be extra cautious from now on,” said another police officer. “The killer can’t be a single person because the nature of the crime is deadly.”
