Baljinder Singh (40), Raj Kumar Sharma (38), Sachin Kumar (36) and Gajender Singh (27) were arrested during the past two weeks by Delhi Police's Special Cell, Joint Commissioner P N Aggarwal said.
The gang is allegedly involved in at least five robberies or attempts in banks in Delhi and its satellite towns since July 2008. Their major heist was the one at a branch of Oriental Bank in Gurgaon from where they decamped with Rs 1.48 crore after taking the employees hostage.
While Gajinder and Raj Kumar were arrested from Rohini after a brief gun battle on March eight, Baljinder was caught four days later. Sachin, an employee of Indian Railways, was arrested on Thursday, Aggarwal said.
Baljinder, a former Punjab Police personnel, had escaped thrice from the police custody and is associated with the Khalistan Commando Force (Panjwar Group), he said.
Three English pistols along with cartridges, controversial articles and documents and four Punjab Police uniforms of Sub Inspector and Head Constable ranks were recovered from their possession.
