The newly inaugurated Inderlok- Mundka standard gauge metro link became an instant hit with the people on the very first day with over 60,000 people taking a ride on it on Saturday.
As the 15.1 km link connecting Inderlok with Mundka was opened to the public from 6 a.m. after a ceremonial flag-off yesterday, people from areas in West and North-West Delhi like Paschim Vihar, Punjabi Bagh and Nangloi thronged the stations to travel by Metro.
A total of 60,000 people took the Metro from the new stations till 6 p.m., which is significant as the DMRC had projected that over 1 lakh would join the metro network once this corridor gets stabilised.
Till 6 p.m., the 14 stations of this corridor registered a footfall of over 60,000. Nangloi and Mundka were the busiest with a footfall of over 10,000 and 8,100, respectively. The DMRC had also deployed more than 100 customer facilitation agent.
