71-year-old ‘tantrik’ held for raping minor

The first incident was reported from south Delhi’s Tughlaqabad where a 10-year-old mentally-challenged girl was raped allegedly by a 71-year-old ‘tantrik’ on the pretext of treating her through black magic.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening and the accused tantrik, identified as Kanu Lal, was arrested on Wednesday after a case under appropriate sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, was registered at Govindpuri police station.

Police said the accused had raped the victim two months ago also and had threatened to kill her if she told anyone about it.

The girl’s parents had approached many doctors for her treatment and a few months ago a neighbour had recommended the tantric.

On Tuesday evening, the girl’s mother took her to the tantrik. He locked himself in a room with the minor, telling her mother to wait outside.

“A few minutes later, the girl’s mother heard her screams and broke open the door. She saw the accused forcing himself on her daughter and immediately raised an alarm. The tantrik fled his house and the girl was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors confirmed rape,” said the officer.

In the second incident, a 21-year-old girl has alleged that she was drugged and raped allegedly by a 51-year-old doctor inside a private clinic in northeast Delhi’s Seelampur on Tuesday evening.

A case was registered against the doctor, identified as Narendra Nath Roy, and he was arrested on Wednesday. Sources said Roy is reportedly the chief medical officer (CMO) of Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital located in Shastri Park area.

The Rohini resident told the police that she first met Roy on May 7 when she felt severe stomach pain while going toward Nand Nagri in an auto rickshaw and consulted him for treatment.

“The woman told us that Roy asked her to visit him for further check-up on May 14. When she met him, Roy took her to nearby Bansal Ultrasound clinic and offered her a cold drink laced with sedatives. The woman realised that she was raped after she regained consciousness,” said a police officer.
