Aarushi murder suspect seeks police protection

In his application, submitted to the police on Tuesday, he claimed he feared a threat to his life from Dr Rajesh Talwar, father of victim Aarushi Talwar, and other people involved in the case.

Sharma had been summoned for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in January and has been called again.

“I feel my life faces a threat from Dr Rajesh Talwar and others. I need police protection as I have to travel to India whenever the CBI asks,” he said.

Javed Akhtar, IG (Meerut) said Sharma’s concerns would be taken care of and instructions have been passed on to Akhil Kumar, Ghaziabad’s special superintendent of police, for provision of security.

However, Dr. Nupur Talwar, the dead schoolgirl’s mother, rubbished the claims.

Sharma, however, denied receiving any threats from the Talwar family. “These are only fears,” he said.
