Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the students’ wing of the BJP, on Wednesday announced that it would not involve itself in the Delhi Assembly election campaign.

On the other hand the National Students Union of India (NSUI), the youth wing of the Congress, is all set to campaign for its senior leaders.
“We will not get involve in the elections on an organisational level as our mandate is to work for the welfare of students,” said Raj Kumar Sharma, president, ABVP Delhi unit. However, he added that there was no restriction for members working on an individual level.
Meanwhile, the NSUI has charted an elaborate plan for campaigning, which includes door-to-door campaigning especially targeting first time voters and students.
The students’ organization, which claims to have a membership of 40,000 students in Delhi, is expected to field around 20,000 members for “grassroot campaigning”.
“Leaders and cadre will address our target group of students and youth,” said Anand Pandey, spokesperson, NSUI.
