The accident was reported from the Kanjhawala area and the victim has been identified as Rajkumar, who worked as an executive at a factory. According to police, Rajkumar was rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for first aid but was pronounced dead when admitted. Police claimed such was the impact of the hit that Rajkumar seemed to have died on the spot almost immediately.

Figures on fatal accidents compiled by the DTC in 2011 put the number of fatal accidents involving their vehicles at 83 - an increase of as many as 31 accidents from 2010's 54. As many as 64 accidents had been reported in the year 2009.
