A 25-year-old pedestrian was mowed down by a speeding, low-floor Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus in outer Delhi on Friday evening, police said.

The accident was reported from the Kanjhawala area and the victim has been identified as Rajkumar, who worked as an executive at a factory. He was a resident of Ghervda village."Rajkumar was returning home from work last evening and had just reached the Savada Road, where several slum clusters are located, when the bus, which had just left the
Nangloi Bus Depot, ran him over from behind," said a senior police officer.
According to police, Rajkumar was rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for first aid but was pronounced dead when admitted. Police claimed such was the impact of the hit that Rajkumar seemed to have died on the spot almost immediately.
Meanwhile, the accused driver, who claimed he had failed to spot the victim since he was walking on the wrong side of the road, has been detained but is yet to be formally arrested.
