The ministry has apprised the state governments of the need to increase safety features in buses as the December 16 incident in the capital has highlighted the need to increase safety features in public transport systems.

The ministry has also suggested that video-cameras should be installed in public transport systems and the recordings should be kept for at least 48 hours.

Passenger comfort will also be looked into.
