Amitabh Bachchan on Monday condemned the murder of senior journalist Jyotirmoy Dey, saying public and police should work together to prevent such violent acts.

Answering to a question, Bachchan said he came to know about Dey's death through media.
"I came to know about it through media. I heard that he was murdered because he was working on something which upset few people. It is like someones doesn't like any of our performance and decides to kill us. It is not good," said Bachchan, who was here to promote his upcoming movie Aarakshan.
Dey was shot dead in suburban Powai on Saturday by unidentified assailants.
Amitabh, 68, said people must fight against violence.
"Violence and crime happens everywhere...we should try and stop it."
Director Prakash Jha too condoned Dey's death.
"His murder in broad daylight is sad. It is like the murder of humanity and I deeply regret his death," Jha added.
