Indian passengers at Delhi airport on Wednesday had a question for the airline and its employees: Why are you doing this to us?

Some had their flights cancelled, others delayed. And everyone’s plans were upset.

"Why should passengers suffer if there is a fight between the airline and its employees? With so much competition from private airlines, they cannot survive with such a casual attitude," said Vinod Bansal, furious that his flight to Bangalore had been cancelled.

Passengers complained of lack of information. Indian had deployed officials from other departments to man ticketing, enquiry and check-in counters. The problem was that they were not used to dealing with customers.

Mohammed Akram, who reached Delhi from Dubai, had to take a flight to Lucknow. "I had no idea there was a strike. Officials at the counters were not willing to answer my queries. They had no information," he said.

Shekhar Lakhotia said Indian should have contacted passengers on Tuesday night. "How can they behave with passengers like this?"
