Antony reviewed the security situation at a meeting in New Delhi, attended by the National Security Advisor (NSA) Shivshankar Menon, defence secretary Pradeep Kumar and the three service chiefs.

"During the 45 minute long meeting, the defence minister was briefed on all aspects of the security situation," a senior ministry official said.

Antony had on Tuesday reviewed coastal security, as well as the measures taken by maritime security agencies. The coastal security review meeting on Tuesday was attended by Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma, Director General (DG) of Indian Coast Guards (ICG) Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, the defence secretary and secretary (Defence Production), ministry officials said.

The defence minister holds security review meetings every month to take stock of the prevailing security scenario in the country.

Bin Laden was killed by a covert US operation on May 2 on a compound, where he was hiding, in Abbottabad near Islamabad.
