Army chief Gen VK Singh's request seeking an extension in government accommodation after retirement has been approved by defence minister AK Antony notwithstanding several differences in the recent past.

Gen Singh had requested the Defence Ministry for a nine-month extension for staying in government accommodation provided to retiring army chiefs in Delhi Cantt. The house is allocated for a period of three months only.
Antony approved his request to stay in the house without any condition or restriction, sources said here.
The army chief and the Defence Ministry have had differences on several issues in the recent past including the one on Gen Singh's age.
The Ministry had rejected his claim that he was born on May 10, 1951 and not a year earlier as mentioned in some of his service records.
It had twice rejected Singh's plea on the issue.
