Writing exams in Delhi University (DU) has become disabled-friendly. With DU’s latest guidelines for disabled students, the university will provide assistance to students with different disabilities.

For students with 100% visual disability, a writer will be provided along with extra time as per the new rule. Similarly, students with low vision will be provided a writer and extra time, if the impairment is a hindrance to writing the exam.
Along with this, a question paper with enlarged print will also be provided. Facilities will also be provided to students with orthopedic disabilities, cerebral palsy, hearing or speech impairment and short-term disabilities due to any injury.
“Students will have to apply to the examination branch for the facility through the principal of the respective college.
The application will be forwarded to the chief medical officer for his recommendation,” said DS Jaggi, controller of examinations.
DU, however, has laid down strict guidelines for the writer that will be assigned to the students. “The writer should be less qualified than the examinee,” added Jaggi.
