If you're planning a trip to the hills in the near future to enjoy the winter chill, you might consider staying on in Delhi for some more time. That's because the minimum temperature in the city on Friday morning was as low Shimla's.

Delhi's temperature, which is recorded between 4am and 6am, dropped to 4.7 degrees Celsius, 4 degrees below normal.
The temperature was also the lowest of the season so far. In fact, it was lower that temperatures recorded during all of December last year. The maximum on Friday was much better at 21.7 degrees and the weekend is likely to be chilly.
A senior Met official said the weekend would have mainly clear skies with a shallow fog in the mornings. "The fog will return after the 20th of this month and continue till the beginning of January," the official added.
"The snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and J&K directly affects the temperature in the city and that is why the temperatures have dropped suddenly," the official said. The record for the lowest minimum for December is 1.1 degrees recorded on the 26th of the month in 1945. In the past decade, the lowest minimum for December was 3.3 degrees — on December 12, 2005.
