Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani said on Saturday that the impending Ayodhya verdict of the Allahabad High Court would most likely go up to Supreme Court.

“I have asked the BJP leaders not to express their opinion till the verdict is delivered by the High Court,” he told reporters after meeting former Gujarat Minister of State for Home Amit Shah at Sabarmati central jail. “My assessment of the situation is the issue will go up to the Supreme Court.”
Clearly, Advani’s message to the BJP cadre and affiliated organisations is to use the judicial route rather than street protests after the verdict is delivered. He also signaled that the option to go to court was open to both sides.
This echoes the position of the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who has spoken about the need for peace and calm as the verdict is delivered. The RSS has conveyed to its cadres, as also to the VHP, that there should be no public unrest over the judgment, as the underlying issue could only be resolved judicially, or through negotiations, or through legislation.
