Union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has been unanimously re-elected as the Chairperson of Partners in Population Development (PPD) for a further three-year term at the organisation's annual board meeting in Pretoria.

"The Minister has been unanimously re-elected as the Chairperson of PPD for a further three-year term at the just concluded Executive Committee and the Annual Board Meetings of PPD held at Pretoria," an official statement said on Saturday.
PPD is an inter-governmental organisation created specifically for expanding and improving South-to-South collaboration in the fields of reproductive health, population and development.
The Minister had led a delegation from India at the four-day meeting in Pretoria (South Africa) which concluded on Friday, the release said.
During an interaction with his South African counterpart, Azad discussed the issue of delays in registration of Indian drugs. He was assured that with reforms being put in place, the process would become much more efficient, it added.
